Pastor Mike was born in Busan, South Korea and was raised with an alcoholic father, and a mother who was a devout Buddhist. He grew up without any Christian influence in his life. After spending the first 7 years of his life in South Korea, his family moved to the United States and continued to move around before finally settling down in Emmett, Idaho.

He radically converted to Christ when he was 13 years old and was called to the ministry shortly thereafter.  After his conversion to Christ, he led his brother and mom to the Lord.

Pastor Mike’s life radically changed when he came to Christ and yet, his home life was volatile, leading eventually to his parent’s divorce. Mike struggled with so many emotional issues during his growing years that led to 3 attempts to take his life. It has only been by God’s grace expressed most powerfully in the love of his amazing wife and his late mentor, Donald H. Smith, that Mike survived this difficult season of his life.

Instead of following his call into ministry, he pursued a football scholarship.  While at training camp, the Lord convicted him about his disobedience and after wrestling with the Lord, Mike left his scholarship and walked out on his football career.  He eventually ended up attending Bushnell University in Eugene, Oregon where he graduated with a BA in Pastoral Ministries and then went on to Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA to graduate with a MA in Historical Theology.

Pastor Mike has been in full-time vocational ministry since 1980. He has been a Youth Pastor, planted 4 churches, help facilitate the planting of hundreds of churches, is the Senior Developer for Praxis Center for Church Development, President and Dean of Church & Ministry at the Trivium Institute of Leader Development, Co-Authored multiple books, written numerous articles and resource manuals, started several ministry institutes and is the President & Dean of Church and Ministry at the Trivium Institute Of Leader Development.

Pastor Mike met the love of his life, Teresa, in January of 1982 at Bushnell University and they were married in May of 1983.  After 17 years of fruitful marriage and ministry, God blessed Mike & Teresa with 2 beautiful and amazing daughters!

Pastor Mike’s passion is to bring God delight and others into His delight by helping them discover their God-given identity and destiny, helping the saints live the abundant life that loves God with all they are, loves people with all that He is and reproduces this healing and freeing life in others.
